4. Remove the controller from the chassis.

a.On the left side of the controller, press the orange release tab to the right just enough to release the handle; then, rotate the handle upward.

b.Slowly pull the handle away from the chassis to remove the controller from the bay, as shown in Figure 49.

c.Place the controller on a level surface.

5.Remove the failed battery unit from the RAID controller.

a.Turn the blue captive fastener counterclockwise until the battery can move in the direction that is indicated by the arrow.

b.Slide the battery unit out of the controller in the direction that is indicated by the arrow.

c.Dispose of the battery as required by local ordinances or regulations. For more information, see the IBM Systems Environmental Notices and User’s Guide on the IBM Support DVD.

6.Unpack the new battery unit. Set the new battery unit on a dry, level surface. Save all packing materials in case you have to return the new battery unit.

7.Insert the new battery unit into the controller chassis:

a.Slide the battery pack into the controller until the battery-pack connector pins are firmly seated in the controller battery connector.

b.Tighten the captive fastener (clockwise) to secure the battery pack in place.
