Providing Power to the Router
Connect the router to externalpower sources and power it on by performing the
following procedures:
Connecting Powerto the Router on page 117
Powering Onthe Router on page 119
Connecting Power to the Router
Connect power to the router byattaching a grounding cable to the chassis
grounding points and attaching powercables from external power sources
to the terminal studs on the circuit breaker box. Power and grounding
cables are not supplied with the router. For cable specifications,see “Power,
Connection, and Cable Specifications” on page 67.
NOTE: The router must be connected toat least two separate external power
sources.
CAUTION: There is no standard color coding for DC power cables. The color coding
used by the external DC powersource at your site determines the color coding
for the leads on the powercables that attach to the terminal studs on the circuit
breaker box. Youmust ensure that power connections maintain the proper polarity.
The power sourcecables might be labeled (+) and (–) to indicate their polarity.
