Fire Safety Requirements
In the event of a fire emergency involving routers and other network equipment,
the safety of people is the primary concern . You should establish procedures for
protecting people in the event of a fire emergency, provide safety training, and
properly provision fire-control equipment a nd fire extinguishers.
In addition, you should establishprocedures to protect your equipment in the
event of a fire emergency. Juniper Networks product s should be installed in
an environment suitable for electronicequipment. We recommend that fire
suppression equipment be available in the event of a fire in the vicin ity of the
equipment, and that all local fire, safety, and electrical codesand ordinances
be observed when installingand operating your equipment.
Fire Suppression
In the event of an electricalhazard or an electrical fire, you should firstturn power
off to the equipment at the source. Then usea Type C fire extinguisher, which uses
noncorrosi ve fire retardants, to extingui sh the fire. For more infor mation about
fire extingui shers, see “Fire Suppress ion Equipment” on pag e 64.
