Syslog
Syslog canbe configured in Menu 24.3.2 - System Maintenance - UNIX Syslog. Menu 24.3.2
configuresthe router to send UNIX system logs to another machine.
Youmust configure the parameters to activate syslog(Ta ble 9-4 ).
Toconfigure the router for logging with the syslogd program on a localhost:
1. Go to Menu 24.3.2- System Maintenance - UNIX Syslog.
2. Set Active to Yes.
3. In the Syslog IP Addressfield, enter the IP address of the syslogd host PC.
4. Selecta number for Log Facility.
Youcan choose any facility number, but the syslogdprogram must be set to the same number.
5. Selectthe type of activity that you would like to log.
Youcan enable the router to send the following types of syslogmessages:
Call detail record(CDR)
Packet trigger

Field Command Description
Active Pressthe space bar to toggle between
yes and no. Thesyslogoptionisturnedonoroff.
SyslogIP Address Enter the address in dotted-decimal
notationsuch as a.b.c.d where a, b, c,
andd are numbers between 0 and 255.
Thisfield is the IP address location to
sendyour syslog.
LogFacility Pressthe space bar to toggle between
on and off. Seven different local options can be
selected.The log facility allows the
messageto be logged to different files in
thes erver.Refer to your UNIX manual
formore detail.

Foreach type, press the space bar to
togglebetween yes and no.
