Chapter 11Troubleshooting
This chaptergives information about troubleshooting your Model RP114 Web Safe Router. After
each problemdescription, instructions are provided to help you diagnose and solve the problem.

Basic Functioning

After youturn on power to the router, the following sequence of events shouldoccur:
The PWR LED lights.
The routerperforms a self-test for 30 seconds, during which the TestLED should blink at a
rate of about0.5 Hz and then turn off.
If the LAN and WANEthernet connections are correctly made to operational devices, each
LNK or LNK/ACT LED shouldbe on.
Ifa LAN Ethernet port is connected to a device that operates at 100 Mbps, the 100 LED should
be on.
If any ofthese conditions does not occur, refer to the appropriate followingsection.

PWR LED Not On

If the PWR and other LEDs are offwhen your router is turned on:
Make sure thatthe power cord is properly connected to your router and that the power supply
adapteris properly connected to a functioning power outlet.
Check thatyou are using the 12 V DC power adapter supplied by NETGEAR for this product.
If theerror persists, you have a hardware problem and should contact technical support.
