Chapter 7Using the Manager Interface for Initial RouterConfiguration
This chaptercontains information about basic configuration for your Model RP114 WebSafe
Router usingthe internal Manager interface. The initial configuration consistsof:
accessingthe Manager,
namingthe router,
and settingup the LAN interface, including DHCP parameters to be assigned to the
attached PCs.
After youhave performed basic router configuration, proceed to Chapter8, “Using the Manager
Interfaceto Configure the Router for Internet Access,” and Chapter 10, “Configuring Filters,” to
configureInternet access and additional features.

Connecting for Configuration

The Managerinterface is accessible by a Telnet call from any TCP/IP workstationon the LAN or
the remotenetwork. In order to use the Telnet Protocol, you must know thecurrent IP address of
the router.The router is shippped with a default address of 192.168.0.1.
Toestablish a Telnet connection from the LAN,you must set up your workstation to reach the IP
addressof the router by doing one of the following:
Set your workstation to an IP address on the currently programmedsubnet of the router.
Note: Youcan also use the browser-based setup to configure most routerfeatures, and
later use the Manager interface to configur e more advanced features.
