4.1Navigating the Menu System
Printer operation can be controlled through the user interface, allowing the operator access to these six menu system branches:
∙Media Settings
∙Print Control
∙Printer Options
∙System Settings
∙Communications
∙Diagnostics
While in the menu system, the current selection will be indicated with the ‘*’ symbol next to the displayed item on the LCD, and selections designated with the ‘§’ symbol will require a printer reset before becoming effective. Changes made can be saved so that, in the event that power is lost or removed, the new settings will be retained. A reset will be automatically invoked when exiting the menu system and answering ‘Yes’ to the ‘Save Changes’ prompt.
The same function l commands from the host computer may, in some cases, override the printer’s menu settings. In addition, as a security feature for the prevention of accidental or unauthorized changes, the menu system has a password protection feature.
Note: In the following subsections, the factory default settings are denoted with the ‘a’ symbol. Selections denoted with the ‘♦’ symbol can only be changed through the menu system - all other selections can be overridden by host software commands. Consult the Programmer’s Manual for specific information.
