5.4Printhead Replacement

Notes: The printhead is fragile; use extreme care when handling and never use a sharp object on the printhead surface.

If you have any questions or concerns regarding this procedure, contact a qualified technician.

Locating pins eliminate the need for an alignment following the installation of a new printhead. To replace the printhead:

Touch a metal part of the printer’s frame to discharge any static electricity

othat may be present on your body.

Turn ‘Off’ and unplug the printer. Open the Access Cover, rotate the Printhead Latch forward and raise the printhead. Remove the ribbon, if

pinstalled.

Lower and rotate the Printhead Latch to the locked

qposition.

Loosen the Printhead Mounting Thumbscrew (it will remain captive in the assembly). Rotate the Printhead Latch forward to

rthe unlocked position.

Raise the assembly and while carefully holding the Printhead, disconnect

sthe two Cables and then remove the Printhead.

While carefully holding the new Printhead, reconnect

tboth Cables.

Position the Printhead onto the Locating Pins in the Printhead Assembly and secure in place with the Printhead Mounting Screw. (Do not over-tighten this

uscrew.)

Clean the Printhead; see vSection 5.6.1.

Reload ribbon, if removed. Lower and rotate the Printhead Latch to the locked position. Plug in and turn ‘On’ the printer.
