• Network notication. By default, when Wi-Fi is on, you r eceive
notications in the Status bar when your tablet detects an open
Wi-Fi network. Unc heck this option to turn of f notications.
• Keep Wi-Fi during sleep. To conserve mobile data usage, your
tablet stays connected to Wi- Fi when the screen g oes to sleep.
Touch this option to change this default b ehavior: eithe r to stay
connected to Wi-Fi only w hen the tablet is conn ected to a char-
ger (when battery life isn’ t a problem), or never to stay co nnect-
ed to Wi-Fi during sleep.
• Avoid poor connections: Check to automatically avoid using
networks with a low-qual ity or intermi ttent Internet c onnection.
• Wi-Fi optimization: Check to minimize battery usage when Wi-
Fi is on.
This screen also displays the fol lowing information:
• MAC address. The Media Access Control (MAC) ad dress of
your tablet when connecte d to a Wi-Fi network .
• IP address. The Internet Protocol (IP) addres s assigned to the
tablet by the Wi-Fi netwo rk you are connected to (unless you
used the IP settings to assign it a sta tic IP address).
To turn Wi-Fi on or off, go to Settings > Wireless &
networks > Wi-Fi.
To manage data usage and mobile hotspots , go to
Settings > Wireless & networ ks > Data usage.
