Voice Search & Voice Actions
You can initiate a Voice Search or Voice Actio n in several ways:
• Touch the Microphone icon in the Google Chrome omnibox.
• Touch the Microphone icon on the Home s creen or Google
Now screen and speak.
• Touch Google on the Home screen and say “G oogle”.
• When you’re viewing the Google N ow screen, you don’t have to
touch anything. Just say “Goo gle.”
Next, speak the terms to search f or or the Voice Action to pe rform.

The ability to trigger a sear ch or action by sayi ng “Google” is cal led
hotword detection. To turn it off or on, start fr om the Google Now
screen and touch Menu > Setti ngs > Voice > Hotword detectio n.
IMPORTANT: To detect when you say “Google ” to launch
Voice Search or Voice Actions, Goo gle analyzes sound
picked up by your tablet’s micr ophone in intervals of a few
seconds or less. The sound is i mmediately discarded after
analysis and is not stored on the dev ice or sent to Google.
