4.6 Installing the Backup Battery

In the 7SA511, a backup battery is required to provide power to the clock circuit when input power to the relay is interrupted. This battery also provides backup power to the memory in which the LED memory, event log, and target log are stored. The battery is supplied with the relay, but is not installed at the factory to prevent discharging prior to putting the relay into service.

IMPORTANT: The following procedure is applicable only to the initial installation of the battery in a relay that is not connected to system power. When replacing an installed battery, refer to the “Maintenance” section for the correct procedure.
