Working with custom databases on a Palm OS device

Installing custom databases on a Palm OS device

Custom databases are installed on your Palm OS device when, after configuring a Pylon Pro conduit, you perform a Desktop overwrites Handheld sync operation. Configuring a conduit consists of the following steps:

Creating a filter that maps to a custom database. For instructions, see “Creating a Pylon Pro filter to sync a custom database” (page 135)

Selecting the filter in your configuration document. For instructions, see “Selecting a Pylon Pro sync filter” (page 140)

Setting the sync Action. For instructions, see “Setting sync action” (page 141)

Note

Set the sync Action to “Desktop overwrites Handheld” for the initial

sync of each custom database.

Syncing your device.

During this initial sync, the custom databases which are mapped in selected filters are installed on the device.

Note Set the sync Action to “Synchronize the files” for two-way communication in subsequent syncs between your desktop computer and your Palm OS device.

For more information about configuring conduits in the Pylon

Configuration database, see “Syncing custom databases” (page 133).
