Appendix B

Setting up Pylon for multiple Palm OS users

With Pylon Conduit and Pylon Pro from iAnywhere Solutions, multiple Palm OS device users can access Lotus Notes PIM and, with Pylon Pro only, custom database (Pylon Pro only) information from the same desktop computer.

Requirements

Pylon supports syncing multiple Palm OS devices to the same desktop computer under the following conditions:

Each user must be a registered user and have a valid Pylon license number or a valid corporate license number.

Each additional user must have their own Palm user name set up in Palm Desktop.

Setup Instructions

Follow these instructions to set up Pylon for each additional Palm OS device user.

Note These instructions assume that Pylon already is installed on the desktop computer and on the Palm OS device used during installation. You only need to install Pylon once. If Pylon is not yet installed on the desktop, see “Installing” (page 35) for instructions.

1.Open the Pylon Configuration Database. For instructions, see “Accessing Pylon on your desktop computer” (page 60).

2.Click Create Configuration and create a configuration document for the additional user, using her Palm user name and either her individual Pylon license number or your corporate Pylon license number.

3.Click Save and Close to save your changes and exit the new configu- ration document.

4.Click Filters in the navigation pane.

5.Create custom filters for each PIM application or custom database that the additional user will synchronize. In order to avoid confu- sion when working with multiple users nd multiple filters, it is a good idea to give the filters names that identify the user and the fil- ter’s purpose, such as MMiller - Inbox, MLongust - Inbox.

For information about creating new filters for each application, see the individual chapters in “Syncing Lotus Notes PIM applications” (page 55) and “Syncing custom databases (Pylon Pro only)” (page 131).

6.When you have finished creating new filters for the additional user, click Configurations in the navigation pane.
