About this guide

How this guide is organized

Pylon is available in two different product versions, Pylon Conduit and Pylon Pro. Both of these product versions are available for both Palm and Pocket PC OS devices. This guide is set up to provide easy access to the specific information that is relevant to users of either product, and either operating system.

The chapter, “Installing” (page 35), is the single most important chapter in this guide and provides the information necessary for you to install and begin using Pylon, regardless of the product version you purchased or the device operating system you use. We strongly encourage all users to read this chapter.

Information that is relevant only to one product version, either Pylon Pro or Pylon Conduit, is clearly separated by section within the guide. The chapters in the section “Syncing Lotus Notes PIM applications” (page 55) address users of both Pylon Conduit and Pylon Pro. The chapters in “Syncing custom databases (Pylon Pro only)” (page 131) addresses Pylon Pro users only.

In general, desktop operations for Pylon are the same for both Palm OS and Pocket PC OS, so desktop topics address both types of users. Any differences between Pylon desktop operations for Palm OS and Pocket PC OS are clearly noted within the instructions.

The on-device operations for Palm OS and Pocket PC OS are significantly different in many cases, so on-device instructions for Palm OS and Pocket PC OS are provided separately within each chapter.

The appendices at the end of the guide provide information on special setup situations, as well as Pylon troubleshooting topics should you experience difficulty installing or using Pylon.
