Chapter 1

Focus of this guide

This guide provides the information you need to install and use Pylon

Conduit and Pylon Pro from iAnywhere Solutions software.

Some people reading this guide are new to Pylon software. These users may or may not be new to Pocket PC or Palm OS devices. Other people reading this guide have used Pylon for Pocket PC or Palm OS software. However, these Pylon power users may be unfamiliar with Pylon Pro, Pocket PC OS devices, or Palm OS devices.

In this guide we address the concerns and needs of all users. Both new and existing Pylon users can use this guide for an overview of this version of the software — how to install it and how to use it. For users familiar with Pylon, or with Pocket PC OS or Palm OS devices, some information may be redundant. Where applicable, we note if power users can skip the information we present; or, in some cases we advise you to review the documentation that came with Lotus Notes, Microsoft ActiveSync, Palm Desktop, or your mobile device.

If time is a constraining factor, we encourage all users at least to scan the guide, but to focus on Chapter 3, “Installing” (page 35). The chapter on installing contains important information necessary to get Pylon software running successfully on both your desktop computer and your mobile device.

You can access this guide from the web or, after installing Pylon, from your desktop:
