Product Description

The 494A and the 494Ap (programmabte) instru_

ments are high performance,

compict, portablespec- trum analyzers. Microcomputercontrol of most func- tionssimplifiesand enhancesoperation.

Theanalyzersfeature:

. singleanddeltamarkermodes

osynthesizerfreguencyaccuracy o precisionsignalcounting

r preciseamplitudemeasurement o digitatstoragedisptay

ointernal memory for front-panel settings and displays

ohelpanddiagnosticcrt messages

. keypadentryand menuselections

r abilityto ptotthe disptay.readout,and graticule

o abilityto holdg personalized

macrosin memory

o 10 Hz to 3 MHz resolution

o multibandsweepcapability

, The frequencyrange is 10kHz to 21 GHz with the internalmixer, extendingup to 925GHz with ext€rnal waveguidemixers. Resolutionbandwidthis 10 Hz to 3 MHz. Digital storage provides flicker-freedisplaysplus functionsto compareand subtractdisplays,anO savemaximumvalues. In addition,up to nineseparate displayswith their readoutscan be stored in battery- powered non-volatilememory,then later recalledfor additionalanalysisand comparison.Up to ten different front-panelcontrolsetupscan also be storedfor future recall. The signalcountingf€atureallowsthe spectrum analyzer-toselectivelycount a particularsignalout of severalthat maybe presentat its input.

Select center frequencyeither by the front-panel tuningknob or by the Data Entrykeypad. Whenusing the keypad,it is not necessaryto alter the Span/Dii setting regardlessof the frequencyselected. oiher parameters, such as vertical display and reference level, arealsokeypadselectable.

Marker functions provide direct readout of fre- quencyand amplitudeat any point alongany displayed trace. Relative(delta)frequencyand amplitudeinforma- tion-betwe€nany two pointsalong any displayedtrace is also available. The tuningknob movesihe-markers, and it can also movethe displaywith a stationaryfre- quency marker. lt is possible to fix the markerto a position on the displayand use th€ knob to move both the spectrumand the markerat the sametime. Refer to using the MarkersFeaturein section6 of the opera_ tors Manual.

The programmable(p) version of the instrument adds remote controlcapabilitiesto the manualinstru_ ment features. The front-panel controls (exceptthose intended exclusivelyfor local use, such ai lrufLruSlW1 can be remotelyoperatedthroughthe GplB port. Thia allows the spectrumanalyzerto b€ usedwith a variety of systemsand controllers.Refer to the programmers Manualfor additionalinformation.

The programmable instrument also adds the macroinstructions(macros) feature. The,nstrument memoryhas 8K bytesset aside for the constructionof made-to-ordermacros. The macro menucan hold the titles of eight macrosfor easy access. Specificmacro informationis locatedin the programmers

Manuat.
