Pre-installation instructions
Perform the steps below before you open the server or before your remove or replace any component.
Warning! Failure to properly turn off the server before you start installing components may cause serious damage. Do not attempt the procedures described in the following sections unless you are a qualified service technician.
1Turn off the system and all the peripherals connected to it.
2Unplug the power cord from the power outlet.
3Unplug all peripheral cables from the system.
4Place the system unit on a flat, stable surface.
5Open the system according to the instructions on page 41.
6Follow the ESD precautions described in this section when handling a server component.
Post-installation instructions
Perform the steps below after installing a server component.
1See to it that all components are installed according to the described
2Reinstall all hardware structure or cable that have been previously removed.
3Reinstall the top cover.
4Reinstall the front bezel.
5Reconnect the necessary cables.
6Turn on the system.
