zThe machine cannot scan the area within about 0.08" / 2 mm from the rear edge, and within about 0.08" / 2 mm from the left edge of the Platen Glass.
zYou can also scan in originals that are up to 0.8" / 20 mm thick, such as books. Set them on the Platen Glass in the same way as documents.
3Gently close the Document Cover.
zUsing The ADF

zSet a document on the Platen Glass if you want to scan it at optimum quality.
zWhen the document is set to the ADF, the first 0.08"/2mm of the leading edge of the document (the part that is first scanned) will not be read.
1Remove any documents from the Platen Glass.
2Open the Document Tray.
3Load the document in the ADF (1).
Load the document with the side you want to copy, fax, or scan face side up in the ADF.
