Installing DIMMs

To install a DIMM, follow these steps:

Step 1 Review the safety information in the “Safety Guidelines” section on page 2-4.

Step 2 Power off the device and peripheral devices. Disconnect the power cord, and then disconnect all external cables. Remove the cover. (See the “Removing the Cover and Bezel” section on page 4-1for details.

Step 3 Touch the static-protective package that contains the DIMM to any unpainted metal surface on the device, and then remove the DIMM from the package.

Step 4 Install the DIMM:

a.Open the retaining clip on each end of the DIMM connector. Turn the DIMM so that the pins align correctly with the connector. (See Figure 4-6.)

Caution To avoid breaking the retaining clips or damaging the DIMM connectors, open and close the clips gently.
