A flat-blade or number 2 Phillips-head screwdriver is required to perform these
procedures.
Warning
Voltage is present on the backplane when the system is operating. To reduce
risk of an electric shock, keep hands and fingers out of the power supply bays
and backplane areas.

Warning
Power supply captive installation screws must be tight to ensure protective
grounding continuity.

Note You can replace the faulty power supply while the system is operating if the other
power supply is functioning.
Removing a Power Supply
To remove a power supply, follow these steps:
Step1 Turn the power switch to the off (0) position on the power supply you are
removing.
Step2 Loosen the screw on the power cable retainer and disconnect the power cable from
the power supply being removed.
Step3 Loosen the captive screw on the power supply.
Step4 Grasp the power supply handle with one hand and slide the power supply out of
the chassis.
Step5 If the power supply bay is to remain empty, install a blank filler panel over the
opening.
