The
Spanning Tree Global Settings
page contains the following fields:
Spanning Tree State
— Enables or disables STP, RSTP or MSTP on the device.
STP Operation Mode
— The STP mode by which STP is enabled on the device. Possible field
values are:
Classic STP
,
Rapid STP, and Multiple STP
.
Path Cost Method
— Specifies the method used to assign default path costs to STP ports. The
possible field values are:
Long
— Path cost method with a range of 1-200,000,000.
Short
— Path cost method with a range of 1-65,535. This is the default method.
The default path costs assigned to an interface vary according to the selected method:
BPDU Handling —
Specifies BPDU packet handling when the spanning tree is disabled on an
interface. The possible field values are Filtering and Flooding. The default value is Flooding.
Priority (0-65535)
— The bridge priority value. When switches or bridges are running STP, each
are assigned a priority. After exchanging BPDUs, the switch with the lowest priority value becomes
the root bridge. The default value is 32768.
