Removing and Replacing the Server Battery

The server battery may be replaced by removing the top cover and accessing the I/O baseboard.

To remove and replace the server battery, follow these steps:

Step

1.

If rack mounted, slide the HP server out from the rack until it stops. See “Extending the Server

 

 

from the Rack” on page 39.

Step

2.

Remove the top cover from the chassis. See “Removing the Top Cover” on page 43.

Step

3.

Remove the I/O baseboard assembly from the chassis. See “Removing the I/O Baseboard” on

 

 

page 66.

Step

4.

Locate the battery on the I/O baseboard. Remove the battery by lifting the retaining clip and pull

 

 

the battery from its socket.

Step 5. Install the new battery.
