RAS Support Overview

RAS Support Overview

The communications controller uses Microsoft RAS to provide remote user connections over ISDN lines. RAS enables the transport of TCP/IP, IPX/SPX, and NetBEUI protocols.

RAS supports all of the mainstream networking clients, including the following:

Windows for Workgroups

LAN Manager

Windows 95

Windows NT Workstations

Windows NT Servers

UNIX

Macintosh

NetWare

OS/2-based clients.

RAS connection enables all services typically available to a LAN-connected user (including file- and print-sharing, database access, and messaging), as shown in the following illustration:
