Printing Envelopes from the Multipurpose Tray
1Flex the envelope stack (including the edges ) to remove any stiffness.
2Place the envelopes on a f lat su rface, a nd flatte n them by pre ssing down the c orners.
3Correct any bent corners, and then tap the envelop es on a flat surface to align them.
4Place the envelope sta ck int o the multipurpose tray with the flap-side up.
Check your application doc ume ntation to determine if the flap shoul d be place d on
the left or on the right. Print a single envelope to check the orientati on befo re print-
ing multiple copies.
5Adjust the media guides to the width of the envelopes.
Make sure the guide s ar e snug enough to ke ep the en velopes s traigh t, but not so ti ght
that they buckle the envelopes.
6Open the flap of each en velope immediate ly (b efore it cools) after the envelope is
delivered to the output tray.
Because the envelopes pass thr ough heated rollers, the gummed area on the flaps
may seal. Using envelopes with emulsion-based glue avoids this problem.
