You may see the following dialog box appear when attempting to contour cut bitmap files. This slide bar sets the sensitivity of the filter. If your sensitivity is high i.e. 255 your cut line may appear jagged as the filter picks up noise around the outside of an image. This is common in lower resolution files as well as JPEGs.
