Removing the MDC

The following describes the procedure for removing an MDC (See Figure 4-5).

CAUTION:Since the MDC slot cover is easily broken, remove the memory cover first before removing the MDC slot cover.

When replacing the MDC, The power must be turned off when you remove the MDC. Removing an MDC with the power on risks damaging the modem or the computer itself.

1.Turn the computer upside down.

2.Loosen the screw (with e-ring)securing the MDC slot cover and remove the cover.

3.Remove the following screws fixing the MDC.

• M2x4Z BIND screw x2

4.Lift up the MDC to remove it from the connector on the system board.

5.Remove the MDC cable from the connector on the MDC.
