Step 4: Overdubbing

In this step, you will learn how to record another instrument or vocals on a new track, while listening to the rhythm song and to the track you already recorded. Recording additional parts in this way is called "overdubbing".

4-1 Selecting an insert effect patch

We will also apply an insert effect on the input signal.

1. Connect the instrument and adjust input sensitivity as described for step 2-1.

2. Use the [ALGORITHM] keys in the effect section to select an algorithm for the insert effect.

3. Turn the dial to select the patch.

4. Press the [EXIT] key.

The unit returns to the main screen.

4-2 Selecting a track and recording

Now we will set the recording level and perform overdubbing

on the next track.

1. Adjust the recording level with the [REC LEVEL] control while playing your instrument.

2. With the recorder stopped, repeatedly press the status key for the track you wish to use, so that the key lights up in red.

3. Operate the fader of the selected track to adjust the monitor level of the input signal.

If necessary, press the PLAY [R] key and operate the DRUM/BASS faders and the fader of the already recorded track to adjust the volume balance of the rhythm song and the track.

4. Press the ZERO [U] key to return to the beginningof the song.
5. To start recording, hold down the REC [O] key and

press the PLAY [R] key.

The REC [O] key and PLAY [R] key will light, and recording will begin. Record your instrument while listening to the rhythm song and track playback.

6. To finish recording, press the STOP [P] key.

The REC [O] key and PLAY [R] key will go out, and

recording will stop.

HINT

If you wish to redo only a part of the track, use the punch-in/ punch-out function (p. 40).

7. To listen to the recorded content, press the ZERO

[U] key to return to the beginning of the song, and

press the PLAY [R] key.

The tracks will be played back together with the rhythm song. If you are satisfied with the recorded content, press the status key for the recorded track until it is lit in green.

Use the same procedure to record other tracks.
