5-3 Using the mastering effect

You can place the insert effect immediately before the [MASTER] fader and use one of the MASTERING algorithm patches to modify the dynamics or tone of the entire song. To apply an insert effect to the entire song, proceed as follows.

Changing the insert location of the insert effect1. From the main screen, press the [INPUT SOURCE]key in the effect section.

The key flashes, and the indication "IN SRC IN" appears on the display. From this screen, you can change the insert position of the insert effect.

2. Turn the dial to bring up the indication "IN SRCMASTER" on the display.

Now the insert effect is inserted immediately before the

[MASTER] fader and can process the signal of the entire

song.

The insert effect can also be inserted into any desired track of the mixer, or in the drum/bass signal path (p. 119).

3. Press the [EXIT] key.

The unit returns to the main screen.

Selecting a patch for the insert effect4. Press the [MASTERING] key in the effect section.

The MASTERING algorithm will be selected for the insert

effect. The currently selected patch is shown on the display.

PlusAlfa 05. Turn the dial to select the desired patch.6. Press the PLAY [R] key to play back the song.

The entire song will pass through the insert effect immediately before the [MASTER] fader. If desired, you can edit the currently selected patch to make detailed adjustments to the way in which the effect is applied.

7. When you have achieved the desired sound,press the STOP [P] key and then the [EXIT] key.

The unit returns to the main screen.

5-4 Recording the master track

As the final step, you will record (mix down) the completed song onto the master track. This is a stereo track designed only for use during mixdown. Like the other tracks, the master track also has 10 V-takes.
