Thread Tension

Thread tension will affect the quality of your stitches. It may need to be adjusted when you change fabric or thread type.

NOTE:

It is recommended that a test sample be made on a fabric scrap before sewing on your project.

Possible misadjustments and their results.

Upper tension is too tight. (Fig. A)

Locks appear on the surface of the fabric.

<Solution>

Decrease the tension by turning the Upper Tension Control Dial to a lower number.

Upper tension is too loose. (Fig. B)

Locks appear on the reverse side of the fabric.

<Solution>

Increase the tension by turning the Upper Tension Control Dial to a higher number.

CORRECT TENSION (Fig. C)

Correct tension is important since too much or too little tension will weaken your seams or cause puckers on your fabric.

Tensión de los hilos

La tensión de los hilos afectará la calidad de las puntadas: puede requerir cierto ajuste cuando cambia de tejido o hilo.

NOTA:

Le recomendamos hacer una prueba en un pedazo de tela antes de empezar a coser en el tejido de trabajo.

Ajustes erróneos posibles y sus resultados

El hilo superior es demasiado tirante (Fig. A) Aparecen bagas en la superficie del tejido.

<Solución>

Disminuya la tensión al poner el disco en un número inferior.

La tensión del hilo superior es insuficiente (Fig. B) Aparecen bagas en el revés del tejido.

<Solución>

Aumente la tensión al poner el disco en un número superior.

TENSIÓN CORRECTA (Fig. C)

Es ecesario tener una tensión correcta dado que una tensión insuficiente o demasiado fuerte va a debilitar sus costuras o fruncir el tejido.

Tension des fils

La tension des fils affecte la qualité des points. Vous devrez parfois la régler lors du changement de tissu ou de type de fil.

REMARQUE:

Il est conseillé de toujours effectuer une couture d'essai sur une chute de tissu avant de coudre sur l'ouvrage proprement dit.

Mauvais réglages possibles et leurs conséquences

Le fil supérieur est trop tendu. (Fig. A)

Des boucles se forment à l'endroit du tissu.

<Solution>

Diminuer la tension en tournant le disque vers un nombre inférieur.

Le fil supérieur est trop lâche. (Fig. B)

Des boucles se forment à l'envers du tissu.

<Solution>

Augmenter la tension en tournant le disque vers un nombre supé- rieur.

Tension correcte (Fig. C)

Il est essentiel de procéder à un réglage correct de la tension des fils pour avoir des coutures solides sans que le tissu ne fronce.
