Console Configuration

Setting up for Management

To manually configure the IntraSwitch 5308FL with an IP address via the unit’s Console port, use a VT100 terminal or a VT100 terminal emulator running on a workstation or personal computer (PC) to connect to the IntraSwitch 5308FL’s Local Management Interface.

1

Using a straight-through RS-232 cable with a 9-pin

male D-subminiature plug at one end, connect a

terminal or workstation (PC) running a terminal emulator to the Console port on the front of the IntraSwitch 5308FL.

Important! If you are using a Macintosh, you need a special cable to connect to the IntraSwitch 5308FL’s Console port. Contact Asanté Technical Support (see Appendix E) for assistance.
