Configuring the LECS

Prior to configuring the LECS, you will need to go to each LES and get its ATM address. This address can be gathered with the following command:

ATM#show lane server

LE Server ATM0.1 ELAN name: default Admin: up State: operational

type: ethernet Max Frame Size: 1516

ATM address:47.00918100000000E04FACB401.00100DAACC41.01

LECS used:47.007900000000000000000000.00A03E000001.00 NOT yet connected

Make a note of the address following the ATM address: label. To set up this LEC in a default unrestricted ELAN, perform the following commands:

1. Enter Global Configuration mode on the LANE module:

LANEMODULE#configure terminal

Enter configuration commands, one per line. End with CNTL/Z.

2. Configure a LANE database and specify the LANE database name with the following command:

LANEMODULE(config)#lane database LANE_DB

3.To bind the ELAN name to the ATM address of the LES/BUS for each ELAN, use the ATM address displayed when using the show lane server command:

LANEMODULE(lane−config−database)#name ELAN2 server−atm−address 47.00918100000000E04FCCB100.00100DAACC51.01

4.Repeat this step for each ELAN in the LANE network.

5.You can optionally specify an ELAN as the default ELAN. Doing so will allow the LECs not to be bound to an ELAN:

ATM(lane−config−database)#default−name default

ATM(lane−config−database)#end

Viewing the LANE Database

To see the results of the previous operation, issue the following command:

ATM#show lane database

LANE Config Server database table ÔLANE_Backbone’ default elan: default

elan Ôdefault’: un−restricted

server 47.00918100000000E04FACB401.00100DAACC41.01 (prio 0)

Binding the LECS Address to an Interface

After you have finished configuring the LECS database, use the following steps to configure the LECS address and bind it to the interface:

1. Enter Interface Configuration mode for ATM0 interface:

ATM(config)#interface atm0

2.Use the lane config auto−config−atm−address command to allow the ATM address to be computed automatically for the LECS:

ATM(config−if)#lane config auto−config−atm−address

3.Use the lane config database command to associate a database with the configuration server on the selected ATM interface:
