Finish configuring the SCSI tape backup unit according to the documentation you received with the
device.

Perform a tape backup and verification test with the drive as instructed in the software documentation
that came with the drive.
Optical Drive

Removing an Optical Drive

CAUTION: Only trained service technicians are authorized to remove the system cover and access any of the
components inside the system. See your Product Information Guide for complete information about safety
precautions, working inside the computer, and protecting against electrostatic discharge.

Turn off the system, including any attached peripherals, and disconnect the system from the electrical
outlet.

If applicable, disconnect the cables from the SAS controller card (see Figure3-13) or SAS RAID
controller daughter card (Figure3-14) and pull the cables out of the way of the center fans.

Disconnect the tape backup SCSI cable from the optional SCSI controller card and pull the cable out
of the way of the center fans. See Figure3-15.
6Remove the fans from the center fan bracket. See

8Push the spring latch at the top of the peripheral bay to the right and partially extend the optical
drive out of the bay. See

Remove the ribbon cable and the power cable from the back of the optical drive.

Remove the optical drive from the bay.

Replace the optical drive or insert the filler plate over the empty drive slot.
