7.6SMART (Self-Monitoring Analysis and Reporting Technology)

h.DE temperature

The HDD measures the device temperature at one-minute intervals. It also measures the temperature under one of the following conditions:

−When the LOG SENSE command is executed (Log Page 0D or 2F)

−When the REQUEST SENSE command is executed

−When retry processing is performed

If the EWASC bit (MODE SELECT parameter on Page 1C) is set and the measured temperature exceeds the threshold specified by the log parameter (Page 0D), the HDD issues a warning (Specified temperature exceeded [=0B- 01]).
