7.6.2Data analysis

The HDD judges its own condition by analyzing data that has been collected to predict failure. Data is analyzed by the method predetermined for each attribute. If an attribute value reaches its corresponding threshold, the HDD judges that the remaining life of the HDD is short or that certain failure is occurring. In such case, the sense code (ASC/ASCQ) of the parameter that has reached its threshold is set on the SMART status page (Log Page 2F).
