Chapter 5. MODEM, RMI/TMI, AND SWITCH CONFIGURATION

5.1Overview

In order to avoid damage to the modems and CRS-300 switch, it is important for the user to follow this sequence of configuration:

IMPORTANT

First, connect cables between the (powered OFF) modems and Switch as

outlined in Chapter 4. CABLES AND CONNECTIONS.

Second, configure the modems for 1:N redundant operation as outlined in this chapter in Sect. 5.2 Modem Configuration.

Third, if needed, configure the Switch RMI/TMI cards as outlined in this chapter in Sect. 5.3 RMI Card Configuration Reference and Sect. 5.4 TMI Card Configuration Reference.

Fourth, once the modems and Switch RMI/TMI cards have been properly configured for 1:N redundant operation, the User should then set the CRS-300 for proper operation via the front panel, as outlined in this chapter in Sect. 5.5. Switch Configuration.
