Sample RAID Configuration
A RAID configuration might consist of the followin g :
• Pentium 166 M Hz Processor w/ECC M em Su pp ort
• 128 M B Sy s tem M em ory
• I SA Video Board with 1 MB Video RAM
• PCI Ethernet Adapter (SMC8432BTA)
• PCI Token Ring Adapter (Olicom OC-3136)
• PC I RA I D Adapter (Mylex)
• F our 4 GB SC SI wide hard drives connected to the
Mylex RAID controller
• On e 2 GB SC SI wide hard drive connected to the
onboard AIC-7870 SCSI controller
• SC SI C D -ROM drive connected to the onboard
AIC-7870 SCSI controller
To install the hardware, follow these steps:
1. Split the hot plug backplane.
2. Strap the 2 GB wide drive as SCSI ID 0. Plug it into
the hot plug backplane in drive bay 1 (top).
3. Strap the CD-ROM drive as SCSI ID 3. Insert it into
the top, front 5.25-inch drive bay. Connect the power
cable and the narrow SCSI cable to the CD-ROM
drive.
