Firmware upgrades 101
Querying the ServeRaid firmware
Use this procedure to determine the current ServeRAID firmware version.
Prerequisites
•You must be assigned to the SSA role (ntsysadm)
Procedure Steps
Step Action
1Log on to the server as the SSA role (ntsysadm).
2Run the following command: arcconf GETVERSION
The system displays information about the installed controllers. The firmware version is included in the list of controller information.
Firmware : x.x-x (xxxxx)
Comparing the firmware versions to determine upgrade requirements
Firmware upgrades are necessary when the installed firmware versions differ from the current firmware baselines. Use this procedure to compare the currently installed firmware versions to the baseline versions.
Attention: When determining if a firmware upgrade is required, ensure that you are comparing firmware version information for the same component.
Procedure Steps
Step Action
1Refer to the MR notes for a list mapping each firmware CD title to its firmware version number.
2Compare the firmware version listed in the text file for each component with the currently installed firmware version for that component.
If the versions match, no upgrade is necessary.
