Probing disk drives
This test checks all disk drives.
Symptom: The internal disk drives are reporting errors.
Solution: To check the status of the disk drives:
1. Enter:
/usr/sbin/shutdown -y -i0 -g0
This shuts down the system.
2. At the ok prompt, enter the following commands:
setenv auto-boot? false
reset-all
The system resets.
3. Enter:
probe-scsi
The program displays a message that is similar to the following:

Note: The actual response depends on the number of disk drives that are installed in
the system. This example shows six disk drives and the disk drive backplane.
4. Fix any obvious errors, such as disconnected backplane cables or disk drives not
completely inserted.
5. When you finish testing, enter the following commands:

CAUTION: If you fail to enter these commands, any reboots that you do in the future will stop
at the boot prompt instead of proceeding through the normal boot-up process.
setenv auto-boot? true
boot -r
The system reboots.
