Adding disk drives (optional)

If you are adding a pair of data disks (optional), you can hot-plug the disk drives without shutting down the system.

To add a pair of data disks:

1.Unlock and open the front door.

2.Enter the following commands: cd /

luxadm insert

The following message is displayed:

Please hit <RETURN> when you have finished adding Fibre Channel Enclosure(s)/ Device(s):

3.Attach one end of an ESD antistatic wrist strap to the system chassis sheet metal and attach the other end to your wrist. See Using an ESD wrist strap on page 59 for more information.

4.Release the drive handle on the replacement disk drive. Use your thumb and forefinger to pinch the drive latch upward to open it.

5.Align the disk drive with slot 2. Orient the drive so that the drive handle hinge faces the bottom of the drive bay.
