7. If you receive only part of the printerfile, try these remedies:
a. Lengthen the timeout forthe external device
b. Make sure the printeris set to receive a binary file, not a
text file.
RS-232 Conventions
There are processing conventions that are specific to the RS-232
interface, such as transferring binary data, processingbreak signals,
reporting RS-232 I/O errors, and checking command sta tus.
Transferring Binary Data
To use the RS-232 port to transferbinary data to the oscilloscope, set
up the interface as follows:
HUse hardware flagging (RTS/CTS) whenever possible. Hardware
flagging guarantees no data loss.
HAll eight bits of binary data contain meaningful inform ation. To
make sure that all eight bitsare received or transmitted, configure
the external RS-232 device to rec eive and transmit eight-bit
characters (set the RS-232 word length to eight bi ts).
Reporting RS-232 I/O Errors
Errors are reported when there is a problem wit h parity, fram ing, or
input/output buffer overruns. To report errors, the oscilloscope posts
an event code. When an error occurs, the oscilloscope discards all
input and output and waits for a new command.
