B RS-232 Cable Specs and Modem Use

This appendix describes the cable pinouts for the RS-232 cable used to connect the Ethernet Management Module (EMM) to a device. It also explains the requirements for connecting a modem to the EMM.

RS-232 Cable Specifications

The RS-232 cable connects to the management interface on the EMM front panel. The management interface is designed to connect to a cable offering a male DTE interface. Table B-1 defines the RS-232 cabling guidelines that apply for connecting devices to the management interface.
