If a problem exists in the Base Station GPS reference or SCT modules, the Base Station PN offset will likely be incorrect.

Use of the 58503A provides a GPS-referenced timing signal that is independent of the Base Station. This helps isolate problems associated with the Base Station own GPS reference equipment and/or SCT module(s). An example of this is an “island cell”, where the Base Station passes performance tests but does not properly interact with adjacent cells during handoffs.
