To change your tablet’s keybo ard and input meth-
ods, go to Settings > Person al > Language & in put.
Type text by speakingYou can use voice input to type tex t by speaking. This featur e
uses Google’s speech -recognit ion servic e, so your table t must be
connected to a Wi-Fi ne twork to use it.
Text that you enter by speaking i s underlined. You can con tinue
entering text to keep it, or d elete it.
You can speak to enter text in most p laces that you ca n enter text
with the onscreen keyboa rd.
• Touch a text eld , or a lo cation in te xt you’ve already ente red
in a text eld.
• Touch the Microphone key on the onsc reen keyboard .
• When you see the micropho ne image, speak what you wan t
to type.
say “comma,” “period ,” “question mark,” “excl amation mark,” or
“exclamation point” to enter punctuation.
When you pause, what you sp oke is transcribed by the sp eech-
recognition ser vice and entered in the text eld, u nderlined.
You can touch the delete key to erase t he underlined tex t. if you
start typing or enter ing more text by speaking, the und erline
disappears.
To improve processing of your voi ce input, Google may re cord a
few seconds of ambient bac kground noise in te mporary mem ory
