Encrypt your tablet You can encrypt all the data o n your tablet: Go ogle Accounts , app
data, music and other med ia, download ed informatio n, and so on.
if you do, you must enter a nume ric PiN or password each tim e
you turn on your tablet. Note t hat this is the same PiN or pass -
word that you use to unlock your t ablet without encr yption, and
cannot be set independently.
WArnInG: encry ption is irreve rsible. The o nly way to revert
to an unencrypted tabl et is to perform a fac tory data reset ,
which erases all your data .
encryption provide s additional protectio n in case your tablet is
stolen, and may be require d or recommended in s ome organiza-
tions. Consult your syste m administrator befo re turning it on. in
many cases the PiN or password yo u set for encryption is c on-
trolled by the system admini strator.
before turning on encr yption, prep are as follows:
1. set a lock sc reen PiN or passwor d.
2. C harge the batter y.
3. P lug in your tablet .
4. s chedule an hour or more for the en cryption process: you
must not interrupt it or you w ill lose some or all of y our data.
When you’re ready to turn on e ncryption:
1. Tou ch S ettings > Personal > Sec urity > Encryption > E ncrypt
tablet.
