For some accounts, sync ing is two-di rectional; cha nges that you
make to the information on your d evice are made to the copy of
that information on the web . Your Google Acco unt works this way.
other accounts support only one-way sync: the information on
your mobile device is read -only.
some apps, such as Gmail an d Calendar, have sep arate synchro-
nization setting s that p rovide mo re ne- grained c ontrol. Fo r ex-
ample, to control messag e syncing in the Gmail app, touc h
Menu > Manage labels, touch a label, and t hen Sync messages.
Congure auto-sync for all a pps
To control Anto-sync for al l apps that use it, op en Settings > Dat a
usage > Menu and check or unche ck Auto-sync data.
if you turn off Auto-syn c, you need to sync manuall y to collect
messages, email, and ot her recent info rmation, and w on’t receive
notications when update s occur. For example, cha nges that you
make in your People app are au tomatically made to you r Google
contacts on the web.
if this option is not checke d, you may be able to us e an app’s tools
to sync data manually. You can also sy nc manually to collect
messages, email, and ot her recent information. Leav ing Auto-
sync off can help exten d your battery life, but wil l prevent you
from receiving notic ations when upd ates occur.
Congure Google Accoun t sync settings
To adjust a single Google Account’s sync settings:
1. Go to Setting s > Personal > Accou nts > Google.
