Receiving Problems
❚Can not receive a fax automatically.
The machine may not be set to receive automatically.
•For the machine to receive faxes automatically, the receive mode must be set to FaxTel, FaxOnly or AnsMode (→ Chapter 5). If you have set AnsMode, confirm that an answering machine is connected to the machine and that it is turned on with an outgoing message properly recorded.
The machine’s memory is full.
•Print out or delete any documents stored in memory (→ pp.
An error may have occurred during reception.

The telephone line may not be connected properly.

❚The machine does not switch automatically between telephone and fax reception.
The machine may not be set to switch automatically between telephone and fax reception.
•For the machine to switch automatically, the receive mode must be set to FaxTel or AnsMode. (→ Chapter 5) If you have set AnsMode, confirm that an answering machine is connected to the machine and that it is turned on with an outgoing message properly recorded.
The sending fax machine can not send the CNG signal that tells the machine that the incoming signal is a fax.
•Some fax machines can not send the CNG signal that tells your machine the incoming call is a fax. In such cases, you will have to receive the fax manually. (→ p.
❚Can not receive a document manually.
You may have disconnected the call by pressing Start or dialling the remote receiving ID after hanging up the handset.
•Always press Start or dial the remote receiving ID before hanging up the handset. Otherwise you will disconnect the call.
•When your telephone line uses rotary pulse, switch to tone dialling on your telephone before dialling 25 (the remote receiving ID).
