Simulating a 4 to 20 mA Transmitter

You can configure the calibrator as a load on a current loop through the SOURCE mA function. When you press the Mkey in SOURCE mode, the display prompts you to select Source mA or Simulate Transmitter. The difference in operation is that when you Source mA the calibrator is sourcing current, and when you Simulate Transmitter the calibrator is sourcing a variable resistance to regulate current to the specified value. Connect an external loop supply to the positive (top) mA jack as shown in Figure 15.
