NOTE: This function takes advantage of information stored and supplied by the XFP device. This information is
an optional feature of the Multi-Source Agreement standard defining the XFP interface. Not all component
suppliers have implemented this feature set. In such cases where the XFP device does not supply the information,
a “Not Available” message will be displayed for the specific port that the device is installed

CLI CommandsThe show media command displays module information including link length, vendor name, vendor part number,
vendor revision, and laser wavelength.
[no] optical-monitor <alarm interval>Use this command to configure monitoring for all ports (system-wide), a range or ports, or a single port. The
<alarm-interval> variable sets the interval in minutes between the sending of alarms and messages. The default
interval is three minutes. When monitoring is enabled, console messages, syslog messages, and SNMP traps are
sent when warranted by optical operating conditions, and a port is enabled.
show optic port/slot_numberThis command displays optical monitoring information as a result of the optical-monitor configuration command.
Information includes:
• temperature
•TX power
•RX power
• TX bias current
Status values are:
•low-alarm
•low-warn
• normal
•high-warn
• high-alarm
