Guidelines for repacking the printer

CAUTION

CAUTION

Use the following guidelines when repacking the printer:

If possible, include print samples and 5 to 10 sheets of paper or other media that did not print correctly.

Remove and keep any DIMMs (memory) installed in the printer. See Removing a DIMM for instructions.

Static electricity can damage DIMMs. When handling DIMMs, either wear a grounded antistatic wrist strap or frequently touch the surface of the DIMMs’ antistatic package before touching bare metal on the printer.

Remove the scanner. See Removing the copier/scanner for instructions.

Remove and keep any cables, trays, and optional accessories installed in the printer.

Remove and keep the toner cartridge.

To prevent damage to the toner cartridge, store the toner cartridge in its original packing material or store it so that it is not exposed to light.

If possible, use the original shipping container and packing material. Shipping damage as a result of inadequate packing is your responsibility. If you have already disposed of the printer’s packing material, contact a local mailing service for information on repacking the printer.

Include a completed copy of the service information form. See Service information form.

Hewlett-Packard recommends that you insure the equipment for shipment.
