[Cannot save to the default file.]The default file cannot be overwritten. Save to
another file.
[Error has occurred in the scanner.]Check whether the scanning settings specified
by application exceed the setting range of the
machine.
[Error has occurred in the scanner driver.]Check whether a network cable is connect-
ed correctly to the computer.
Check whether the Ethernet board of the
computer is recognized correctly by Win-
dows.
Check whether your computer can use
TCP/IP protocol.
[Insufficient memory. Close all applications, then re-
start scanning.]
Terminate the unnecessary application started
by the computer.
[Insufficient memory. Reduce the scanning area.]Reset the scan size.
Lower the resolution.

Note
The chart "The Relationship between the
Resolution and the Scanning Area" in Help
for halftone scanning might not always ap-
ply. Scanning cannot be performed if large
values are set for brightness when using
halftone or high resol ution.
When paper misfeed occurs in the machine
during printing, scanning cannot be per-
formed. In this case, after the misf ed paper
has been removed, proceed with scanning.
[No response from the scanner.]Check whether the machine is connected to
a network correctly.
The network is crowded. Reconnect after a
while.
[No User Code is registered. Consult your system
administrator.]
Access is restricted by user code. Notify the
system administrator of the machine.
[Please call your service representative.]An unrecoverable error has occurred in the
machine. Call your service representative.
[Scanner is in use for other function. Please wait.]The machine is used by the function other than
the scanner function such as copy. Wait for a
while and reconnect.
[Scanner is in use by other user. Please wait.]Other user uses the machine to scan the origi-
nal. Wait for a while and reconnect.
[Scanner is not available. Check the scanner connec-
tion status.]
Check whether the main power switch of
the machine is turned off.
